Visitor Information

The town was once a lavish Victorian coastal retreat where the North West’s elite took in the sea air. Colwyn Bay retains many of the things that made it such a great place to visit. The spacious sandy beach, backed by a three mile promenade, provides a great seafront walk that goes all the way into neighbouring Rhos on Sea. Colwyn Bay is also now home to a year round dry beach making it a great hit with kids and big kids alike. And the fantastic watersports centre at the impressive Porth Eirias development offers a whole host of fun and excitement.

Colwyn Bay’s bustling town centre has familiar high street names, independent shops, great places to eat out, plus a popular weekly farmers’ market. Ten minutes from the centre is the peace and quiet of Nant y Glyn valley and as a regular winner of the Wales in Bloom large town trophy, the floral displays in the town are well worth a look too.

The impressive Parc Eirias is home to a stadium hosting a great range of events from the start of the Wales Rally GB through to Tom Jones and Elton John. It also has a leisure centre, bowling green, indoor tennis courts and many more top quality sporting, and conference, facilities.

Or why not head inland to see the Welsh Mountain Zoo. Perched panoramically on the hillside above the town, this is the National Zoo of Wales. It’s a caring conservation zoo, with many rare and endangered species from around the world including snow leopards, red pandas, Sumatran tigers, chimpanzees and Californian sea lions.

So whether its snow leopards at the Welsh Mountain Zoo, watersports at Porth Eirias; puppets at the Harlequin Theatre or simply a bit of retail therapy, there’s plenty to see and do in Colwyn Bay.
