Categories: News

Colwyn Bay has been awarded silver gilt in the Large town category of the Britain in Bloom competition.

This highly contested national award follows the town’s fourteenth consecutive win in the Wales in Bloom competition. Colwyn Bay was nominated by Wales in Bloom to the national finals of the competition following the regional stage of judging in 2015 .

In their adjudication, the RHS Britain in Bloom judges Mel Henley and Jim Goodwin said:
“Once again this UK Finalist demonstrated a well- planned route showing the judges what they have achieved with this strong campaign that has significantly improved the town’s environment and brought  individuals and communities together for the benefit of all “
Ingrid Lewis comments: “We are delighted with another fantastic blooming result.  As the chairman of ‘Colwyn In Bloom’, I am very proud to receive this award on behalf of everyone involved.

Greening up’ and making the most of our environment is so important in Colwyn Bay and the impact that this has on people’s general feeling of wellbeing should not be underestimated.  I congratulate everyone who has made this award possible and for the daily work that goes on behind the scenes to make this all happen.  Well done to colleagues and volunteers alike.

Apart from ensuring the area is attractive year around; the award provides a welcome boost to Colwyn Bay and provides an additional marketing tool to promote the town for inward investors and visitors. ”
