Colwyn Bay Market launches new branding

Colwyn Bay Market is taking part in the high profile Love Your Local Market 2015 (LYLM) campaign, led by the National Association of British Market Authorities with full support from the wider markets industry and Government.

Colwyn Bay Market will be joining over 1000 other markets across the country taking part in Love Your Local Market and will be offering pitches at special rates; pitches to young people; and pitches to start-up businesses, community groups and charities.

Colwyn Bay Market will be unveiling its new look branding on Tuesday, 19 May.  The new tarpaulins, flyers, banners and logo will help draw attention to the importance the market plays in the heart of our community – it’s a valuable community asset that provides a focal point in the town.

Apart from market giveaways, Colwyn Bay’s regular market traders will be joined by artisan craft demonstrators on Tuesday 19 May and joined by a growing youth market on Saturday 23 May.

Llanrwst Market will be joining in the fun on 19 May and will be giving away branded Love your Local Market Campaign balloons.

Cllr. Ronnie Hughes, Cabinet Member, Conwy County Borough Council, said: “The Love your Local Market Campaign provides a great opportunity to show the importance of markets to our local communities.   Regular market traders should be celebrated because they keep our markets alive in all weathers throughout the year.”

“I am really pleased that the Bay Life programme is encouraging our local community groups, charities, young people and business start-ups to participate in future markets.”

Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty, Lesley Griffiths, said: “In Wales we are lucky to have diverse and vibrant markets at the heart of our communities. The Love your Local Market Campaign is a wonderful opportunity to showcase these markets and the high-quality produce on offer.

“I am pleased the Welsh Government has been able to support Colwyn Bay Market. This will not only increase footfall in the town centre, but also boost the local economy and provide essential jobs and training opportunities.”

Colwyn Bay Market was awarded a Welsh Government Vibrant and Viable Places grant of £10,000 to help develop and promote the market to the community and to existing and new traders.
