Holidays are coming to Colwyn Bay!

3rd November 2015

Categories: News

If the sight of a big, sparkly red truck and the words "holidays are coming" signal the start of your Christmas, you're in luck - because the Coca-Cola truck is embarking on a festive tour of the UK and on Wednesday 2 December it’s making its way to Colwyn Bay!

Calling at 46 places around the UK, the truck will light up just like the advert in a snowy winter wonderland setting, while you sip on a Coke and enjoy the sounds of a choir singing Christmas hits, spreading festive cheer for all to hear!

The truck first appeared on TV screens in November 1995, and over the last 20 years it's become a regular feature of festive TV schedules in more than 100 countries worldwide.

From midday through till 8pm visitors to Colwyn Bay will get the chance to get up close to the big, red truck to take that all important festive selfie. There’s plenty of FREE, fun family entertainment planned too.

Look out for stilt walking candy canes and toy soldiers and roller skating ice pixies all interspersed on the festive tree lined Station Road. And thanks to Disney no Christmas event would now be complete without an appearance from Elsa and Olaf!

There’ll even be a couple of Reindeer and of course the star of Christmas himself, a visit from Santa arriving in style on a vintage charabanc! This event is not to be missed! Most activities will take place from 4pm to give you a chance to pick the kids up from school.

Organisers Conwy County Borough Council are expecting a massive turn out throughout the day so would encourage those close enough to enjoy a family stroll and leave the car at home. To keep up to date follow @EventsConwy on Facebook and or Twitter.

As well as Conwy Council, the Town Council, Communities First, the Chamber of Trade and local businesses are all working together to deliver a family event for all to enjoy this. There’s even a family Panto ticket up for grabs for the best Christmas Jumper selfie uploaded.

Bobby Brittain, GB Marketing Strategy and Activation Director for Coca-Cola, said: "Every year the support for our ‘Holidays Are Coming’ advert enables us to deliver a truly exceptional experience to people across the UK. This year is no exception.

"As we help celebrate the lead up to Christmas, we’re looking forward to being able to give a little happiness to people around the UK."

In 2014, Coca-Cola’s Truck Tour website received nearly two million hits, while 200,000 people appeared in the photos taken from the visits and throughout the Christmas campaign. The #HolidaysAreComing hashtag was shared 57 million times.
